What is Universal Waste?

Universal wastes, generated by most entities, are defined as "lower risk, potentially hazardous materials". Only when universal waste is handled improperly, does it become hazardous. Examples of commonly used items are below:

Universal Waste

Lighting tubes and devices	Mercury Thermometers
Electrical switches and relays	Mercury Gauges
Thermostats that contain mercury	Mercury added novelties
Please keep these items out of our landfill!
